Throughout 2001 Carol started the process of finding out more about her birth mum. This involved communications with the Catholic church and an eventual 3 way contact system with the church acting as the middle man. Carol quickly tired of this and contacted Margaret direct - Margaret recalls that first phone call and responding with "Carol who?" followed by "Oh shit!!" - Carol knew they'd get on like a house on fire from that very moment! It turned out that Margaret had lived her whole life only around 15 miles from where Carol had been raised by Annie and George - it's a small world indeed. It was a very strange and emotional time with Carol torn over telling Annie - and ultimately deciding not to. We met up for the first time during that Summer and as often as the distance would allow from that time on.
