Stan eventually sold the newsagents so Carol looked for something else to do and decided to join MENCAP - my mum was now working there as well. Carol took responsibility for one lady in particular but also worked as part of a team in a local home. This was a very challenging job but overall Carol really enjoyed it - and this was probably what sowed those early seeds and started Carol thinking about taking up nursing.
