Carol put her career on hold throughout these early years when the kids were young. I remember her doing cleaning jobs before starting as a childminder. That was a good job because it allowed her to work from home and look after our kids as well - and Carol enjoyed this (most of the time anyway!). Around 1996 I remember Carol starting at the local newsagents (Stan's) and jobsharing with my mum - one would do mornings and the other afternoons so each could look after the kids while the other worked - it was a great set-up and Carol absolutely loved the job - Stan was a great bloke and there were always lots of laughs.
